If you’re having trouble getting traffic to your blog, you might be better off to write for someone else! Guest posting is a great way to gain readers, increase your name recognition and drive traffic to your blog.

Readers need to see you and hear your voice before they’ll know who you are – that’s pretty simple. Guest posting will give you a chance to show your work to readers on blogs that see far more traffic than you do. Plus – the more you guest post, the more people will remember your name. If they remember your name, they will remember your blog. Finally, most blogs give guest posters a link at the end of their article. Post on a blog that has several thousand views per day and you’ll see an instant spike in traffic.

If you’re looking for somewhere to guest post, this is a great list to get you started.

For those who are trying to make money blogging, the first reaction can be to ’sell something.’ That’s how we’re taught to make money our entire lives.

In the blogosphere, you’re in a unique position that makes that impossible. In most cases, readers get to try and use everything – they even get to take it home before they buy. In fact, they might take it and use it and not buy at all. Buying, in this case, of course being subscribing to your blog or clicking on an advertisement.

If you’re having trouble selling – it’s probably because you’re trying to sell something. Try teaching instead.

People who read blogs are looking for real information. They want quality, reliable content and they want it fast. That means you have to deliever useful information that will actually benefit people and you have to present it in a way that’s easy to read and comprehend.

Teach, dont’ sell.

It sounds a bit brash to say 'know your role,' but that's about the best way to put it.

If you’re just getting started as a blogger, you’re probably not seeing thousands of visitors per day and making lots of money. That’s OK – you’re blog still has a role.

Brandon Cox at Fuel Your Blogging has some tips for people who ‘fill out’ the blogosphere.

Some blogs lead, some don’t. That’s okay. Some blogs aren’t designed for leadership and that’s okay too. Some blogs inspire, some educate, and some just share silly pictures and funny videos. But… some blogs lead.

One of the perceptions of leadership in the blogosphere is that the “big blogs” are the leaders. These are the blogs listed in the Technorati Top 100. They are multi-author, celebrity driven, and corporately sponsored. I would contend, however, that a blog doesn’t have to be big to lead, but first let me define leadership. Leadership is influence, plain and simple. If you’re not influencing anyone, you’re not leading, you’re simply going for a walk!

Any blog can lead, and any blogger can influence others. We can shape thought and culture, motivate people to action, rally people to a cause, and provoke creativity.

If you’re blog isn’t ‘leading the way,’ it could be doing something worthwhile. It sounds a bit brash to say ‘know your role,’ but that’s about the best way to put it. Find where you fit in and make the best of that situation. You’ll have a chance to expand and grow in due time.

It’s amazing to see how much you can take in about blogging just in a single day. Today alone, I’ve read ___ great articles on blogging and I wanted to share them.

They come mostly from four different topics – design, blogging, writing and monetization.

All of these categories fit well inside my blog and I wanted to share some thoughts on each of these articles

5 Ways you are Unknowingly Harming Your Posts

If you have been blogging for a while, you should probably have a rough idea of what things you should and should not do while writing a blog post. But believe it or not, whether you know it or not, there are still quite a few things you have on your blog that are hurting it that you don’t realize.

Inside this post, I particularly liked the reference to dates. I still do dates, but after reading this – I’m reconsidering. Dates do give your blog a time stamp, which can be beneficial or detrimental, depending on your content.

5 Sure-Fire Sources for Headline Inspiration

Some days headlines are a breeze to write. The perfect words flow from brain to page in a flash of brilliance.

…

It can be intimidating, frustrating, and a little bit humbling . . . and worst of all it can grind your projects to a halt.

It doesn’t have to be that way — as long as you have a few sources of headline inspiration at your disposal.

This is a great idea post that will help you get going when you’re stuck. In addition, a commentor suggested a poetry book. I would also suggest newspapers. Journalists have been getting people to read boring stuff for a long time.

10 Elements of Highly Effective Articles

Here’s the bottom line: If you want to keep a majority of your visitors then you have to be able to produce amazing articles. Period.

There are a lot of people out there not producing amazing articles who still do fine. Regardless, it’s important to try, right? By the way, never use the word amazing. It’s empty and means nothing.

Make Money Blogging

Do you want to make money blogging? If you do – you’re not alone. More and more bloggers are finding that blogging is a profitable medium. Whether it be to earn a few extra dollars a week to feed their coffee habit, or making enough money to stop them having to get a part time job to get through college, or whether they’ve got it to a point where they are able to make a full time living from their blogging – there are tens of thousands of bloggers making money from blogging.

This is an old favorite from Problogger. I still look back at it every now and then to see what I’m not doing or what I’m doing wrong.

Success Keys For Young Entrepreneurs: Simplify Your Life

No summary here, but this article has a good list of overall traits you should have if you want to be a successful blogger.

Travel blogging is a growing niche. Here is what you need to know when you start a travel blog.

In today’s economy, it’s important for businesses and/or individuals to build a successful model of online marketing. I guarantee you that includes a blog.

One industry that is taking particular advantage of blogging, its dynamically-generated content and the better search-engine results that come with it is the travel industry.

Those looking for a vacation used to be prohibited to brochures, travel agency and travel agents for information of prospective vacations or vacation hot-spots. That’s no longer the case.

Tourists now have the vast resources of the Internet to turn to when looking for the what, where, when, why and how of vacation. Travel blogs are becoming popular.

In 2008, The Telegraph published a list of the world’s best travel blog. Here’s the list of “best for practical advice.”

travel-rants.com

perrinpost.com

escapeblog.com

crankyflier.com

seat61.com

Travel blogging is a great niche with tremendous potential. If you like to travel, or if you’re just interested in foreign locations and are knowledgeable, than travel blogging may be for you.

If you think so, then there are somethings you should know and do before you start your travel blog.

Offer Something Valuable

Most bloggers make the mistake of thinking they can just offer up their opinions and make millions. That’s wrong. You really need to offer some unique, valuable content that will keep readers coming back.

It’s not enough to tell me that there is good pizza in Italy or that France has beautiful countryside – I can figure that out from Wikipedia. Tell your readers something they won’t find through conventional methods.

Be Different

Another mistake a lot of bloggers make is they try to be too much like someone else. Stand out.

It’s not hard to be different. Maybe you want to just offer advice on food in Italy or food in Asia. Maybe your blog should just be on travel methods – like planes, trains and automobiles.

Whatever you decide to do, try to make it as uniquely branded and presented as possible.

Allow Readers to Interact

With a niche like travel, it’s important to allow your readers to interact. Obviously, unless you’re really wealthy, you won’t be able to go everywhere yourself. Let your readers do some work for you.

Let them submit reviews, ratings and even articles. Create a method that will allow your readers to give you information – even if only so you can give it back to others.

Conclusion

Nomadic Matt has a great e-book on how to develop and monetize a blogging website. It’s only $28 and includes six sections that cover everything from blog creation to tips and tricks on how to get traffic and sell advertisements.

If you’re starting a travel blog, I definitely suggest you try his e-book out for suggestions. It will help you get started and build on what we’ve discussed in this article.

Once you’ve established a new blog, you will want to get traffic, so in turn, you can make money.

There are a few dependable ways to create traffic for your site including SEO, building back links, social networking or through professional promotion.

All of these ways will work, especially if you have good content, at generating traffic and bringing real visitors to your site. For now though, let’s focus on professional promotion.

Why Professional Promotion?

If you’ve developed a high-quality blog that offers valuable information, then professional promotion could really help you get started. Why though, would someone choose to pay what could be a significant amount of money for a start up blogger to promote a blog?

The simple answer is simplicity.

Professional promotion, like that offered by companies like PRWeb, PRLeap and several other professional public relations companies, can generate lots of traffic in a relatively short period of time with very little effort on your part.

Sites like PRWeb have thousands, if not millions, of subscribers including bloggers, consumers and journalists who will all have a look at your site and, if it’s valuable, share it with others.

Try it Today

If you’ve got a blog, then give professional promotion like PRWeb a try. PRWeb is the most popular press release service on the Internet. They’ll share your site with hundreds of thousands of bloggers, journalists, consumers and social networkers and put your site at the top of the search engines.

It’s the simple solution to a complicated problem.

There are hundreds if not thousands of blogs being registered daily. However, not many people have a strong idea of how to setup a blog to make money with it. Even when you setup a money making blog, money doesn’t come immediately. You need to work for it and be patient to start seeing the money to come to you.

Research

When you are starting anything online, you need to do a research to have an idea of what your result will be. When you are starting your blogging business, you will want to research your niche. The easiest way is to look into your interest, magazines and best selling list.

When you have your niche, it is recommended that you build your blog on the sub-niche. Let’s say your niche is relationship, maybe you can blog about husband and wife relationship. You will be more focused in your blog postings and you blog will seem more professional rather than posting everything about relationships.

Setup your blog

Your blog name does play a big part when it comes to ranking high on search engine result page (SERP). So, see that your main keyword is incorporated into your blog name.

For the husband and wife relationship sub-niche, something like guideforthemarried.com would tell what you are offering in your blog.

Optimize your blog

When you are optimizing your blog, remember that you are doing it for the search engines and your readers. So, choose 2-3 keyword phrases about husband and wife relationship and write your post around them. This will then help to get your blog listed on the SERP.

Optimizing your blog for search engines will only get your blog rank high on SERPs. Still, your readers are the real people who help you to make money with blog. They are the one who click on your advertisements and buy your affiliate products.

When viewers see you are forcing your keywords into your posts and made it sound unnatural, they will not come back to you again. When that happens, you will fail miserably in your blogging business.

Monetizing your blog

When you are done with optimizing your blog, it is time you build some affiliate links to your blog. Find your product from the affiliate program network and promote them in your blog.

When you are looking for your affiliate product, look for one that gives code for banners too. You will want to put some of these banners in your sidebar so that your blog look more interesting. However, you need to be careful when you are putting banners on your blog because too many of them can distract your viewers’ attention.

Drive traffic

How much money you can make with blog depends highly on the traffic to your blog. So, the more people read your blog and convinced by you, the more you can earn. What you can do is to submit articles to various article directories online. When you have extra money to spare, you can always get an article submission service to do the job for you. If you are low on budget, you can look for the top 10-15 article directories and submit the articles yourself.

Another good way to drive traffic to your blog is to link to other blogs. Before you can link to other bloggers, you will want to comment on their post. Share constructive comments about what they say. Article Search and other free article directories will link to you. Then you will be able to leverage on the blogger existing traffic to build your blogging business.
